A clear path into renewable energy.
Finance has a recruiting pipeline. MAREA is building one for renewables — pairing Middlebury students with alumni across the clean-energy industry.
Students see clear paths into banking, consulting and finance. We’re building one into renewables.
Middlebury has one of the nation’s oldest and most respected Environmental Studies programs. The College reached carbon neutrality in 2016 and is on track for 100% renewable energy by 2028. Yet students interested in the sector still find limited visibility and support. MAREA was started by recent graduates to change that.
MAREA connects alumni in the renewable energy industry and mentors students exploring the field.
Build a strong alumni network driving collaboration, opportunity and mentorship.
Strengthen alumni engagement in renewables, at the College and beyond.
Establish alumni as leaders in the global energy transition.
Create a talent pipeline of students and young professionals.

Mentorship, matched one-to-one.
Each student is paired with an alum working in the part of the industry they’re curious about. This year adds all-cohort meetings, more panels and off-campus site visits — because a mentor is a great start, and a network is the goal.
